Please see below re Outbreak CRE OXA48 in AMNCH
Dear All,We have had an outbreak of OXA48-like CRE colonisation in our hospital. It has been detected in Klebsiellas, E. colis and Enterobacters. At present we have twelve cases in the hospital. We have increased screening, increased cleaning and HPV use, reinforced the importance of hand hygiene and correct PPE use and commenced education sessions for all staff. At present all cases are isolated in single rooms with their own toilet. Public health have also been notified.
We would recommend that any transfers from Tallaght hospital to your unit should also be screened for CRE and where possible isolated. If you would like to know the CRE screen results for any patient who will be/has been transferred to your unit, please contact us (01 414 3936/3919/4707). We will endeavour to inform the IPC team of any hospital receiving a positive case.
