Hi all, can I ask what cleaning products are in use currently for local decontamination (cleaning & disinfection) & how these products are used & stored.

Is the status quo to use wipes?

We aren’t installing hoppers in the new build, it’s likely we will be going with macerators.

Good morning Brona

We use stainless steel for sinks and sluice hoppers in the Dirty Utility but I don’t have a reference for same.

But I wanted to mention we had lids made for the sluice hopper in the dirty utility to prevent aerosolisation when it was flushed. This happened a few years ago after the increase in CPE nationally.

A query has come up on the new build project for new National Children’s hospital re stainless steel back splashes for dirty utility sinks-also stainless steel.

Can’t find any reference to it in any of the guidance…HTMs etc.

We use chloraprep 1.5ml applicator but some staff are saying 1.5ml is insufficient and not happy with applicator. Hi Tracy,

WGH is considering stopping routine asymptomatic surveillance testing in scheduled and unscheduled admissions. We are getting so many patients testing positive with high CT values and none have turned out to have active infection but most likely post infection. The patients state they had positive antigen tests in the last few weeks…[Read more]
