Hi Everyone,
1. knowing that the ‘newer’ version of the Infection Control in the Built Environment no longer specifies actual space from bed centre to bed centre (like the previous version specifying 3.6m between bed centres), neither HIQA nor Irish national building standards either specify bed spacing- my query is what is the generally accepted bed spacing from an IPC point of view that is recommended??
And,
2. The HBN standard on sanitary ware etc looks for toilets without toilet lids.
Now am I being old fashioned by thinking loos should have lids (apart from the Doc M/ Assisted toilets)?? Have I missed something in relation to toilet seats??I can appreciate that they be a source of possible germs, certainly of body fluids, if not cleaned/ disinfected appropriately- but I have always talked about putting the seat lid down before flushing! But now newer toilets come without lids. Is there new technology that the flush brings the water down the toilet without creating aerosols??
Now, I know I might be sounding like I have missed a big thing in relation to toilet hygiene, but I would be very happy if someone could put me straight on this issue and the one above please.
All feedback will be gratefully received and mush appreciated!
best wishes,
mags
