I would agree that we need to seek alternatives from Irish suppliers and after recent HIQA inspections, there has been increased queries in relation to ‘safe/ enclosed’ PPE dispensers- so as to prevent access by others.

This may cause many a predictament, but I think there should be more options and solutions out there…[Read more]

Thanks for all the information about the UV system. I like process, speed and lack of consumables. I understand that the Stella machine is/was available in Ireland it may be something else to look at.
Have you placed your system in a designated area/ room ?
I presume you immerse / wipe first then use the UVC ?

We have purchased the UV light HLD system for the decontamination of TV/TR probes and for the central line probe. We can disconnect the central line probe from the machine and this is brought to the X ray department for decontamination at present. For our TOE we use the GUS system with the chemical OPA Cidex but for vaginal and rectal probes we use sheath and wipes. I am interested also to know what other hospitals are doing.
