We see Octensian being used in place of Hibiscub for skin decolonisation.

Hello IPCIreland members

Hibiscrub is being discontinued in the Irish market due to licensing issues, this also has an impact on Unisept supplies.

What alternative products are you bringing in?

When dedicating stethoscopes in patient rooms, staff do not like to use them due to the earpiece being difficult to clean.

Do any of you use disposable ear pieces for stethoscopes? If yes could you please private message me the name of your supplier?

We are seeing more patients with asymptomatic carriage of SARS-CoV-2. In the last two days alone, we have been notified by public health of three patients who attended the hospital as day cases who turned out to be positive (some attended the pop-up COVID screening clinics for routine testing).

Maybe this query should be raised to the AMRIC team, we had heard that a paper was going to NPHET in relation to issues such as this but haven’t seen anything as of yet.
